“Trust Me Not” kept me glued till the end with it’s natural flow, gripping plot and a fantastic ending.. This book is a political thriller, a genre that I haven’t read much of. However, since movies from this genre have always had my attention, I figured it was time I ventured into the books as well! As expected, I enjoyed reading it. The pace of the book was perfect, initially slow.. to help the reader get into the story.. only to hit the reader hard with shocks and twists at the most unexpected of times!
The characters were mature and sensible. The author unravels the complications in human emotions through her characters.. the white, the black and the fifty shades of gray in humans (no pun intended!). It is one of those books in which you do not roll eyes at the actions of the characters, but pause to think about the myriad of emotions humans go through and how that affects their actions.
There are lot of things I liked bout the book but the one thing that absolutely won me over was the last 90 or so pages. Absolutely fantastic!! Kudos to the author for ending a thriller on an emotional note.. almost bittersweet.. You know that the author has done a great job when the reader is torn between rooting for totally opposite things.
Nothing pains me more than to mention grammatical/spelling mistakes in a book I have no other negative point to speak about.. I hope the book gets another round of proof reading before the reprint.
While reading, I could actually see the events unfurl in front of my eyes like a movie.. this would make for some amazing on-screen content for the Bollywood audience. Now that I have read the book I can see why it is blurbed by Madhur Bhandarkar! This is the type of content he would pick for his movies. Maybe we will have this movie someday! *wink wink*
Recommended to anyone who enjoys or is looking for a political thriller. And if you are Bollywood junkie who loves this genre.. you will love it!
