A Word A Day Keeps Ignorance at Bay!!! – Beseech

  • verb. To ask someone to do or give something in a very urgent manner.
    • “Beseech” is almost a dying word as it’s usage has drastically decreased in the past few decades. It was a very popular world in Middle English which comes from be- ( used as an intensifier) and Old English word sēcan (meaning to seek).

      • urge, implore

  • “But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner” (as in Hebrews 13:19 in the King James Version of the Bible)
  • On realizing his mistake, the courtier beseeched the King’s forgiveness.
